Job Description

This role is based in Tokyo and reports to the APAC General Counsel, who reports to the Deputy General Counsel (Global).

Responsibilities include:

• Advise on legal issues related to commercial, contractual, government, and regulatory matters
• Review and negotiate commercial agreements with internal and external stakeholders
• Manage disputes involving customers, vendors, and employment matters
• Advise management and HR on employment law issues
• Ensure business unit compliance with legal & regulatory requirements
• Respond to ad-hoc legal inquiries, assess risks, and provide solutions
• Coordinate with internal and external counsel
• Collaborate with compliance and ethics teams
• Establish ethical standards and educate internal teams
• Investigate unethical conduct with audit and HR
• Recommend and implement disciplinary actions when necessary
• Perform other assigned duties

Requirements

• Law degree from a recognized Japanese university
• 5+ years of legal experience (in-house or law firm preferred)
• Strong understanding of Japanese law (IT industry knowledge not required)
• Foreign lawyers welcome (Japanese bar qualification not required)
• High proficiency in Japanese & English (N1 level)
• Preferred: Corporate law, employment law, regulatory law experience
• Strong leadership, trust-building, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent organizational and multitasking ability
• Client-oriented mindset

Compensation

• Annual salary: ¥10,000,000 – ¥20,000,000
