Job Description
Support the Japan accounting team with financial, governance, and control tasks. Contribute to accurate and timely internal and external financial statements and compliance reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead month-end closing, perform reconciliations, and investigate variances
- Reconcile key accounts to subledgers and trial balances
- Manage general ledger usage and review daily transactions
- Post journal entries in SAP and reconcile in Blackline
- Conduct financial statement reviews for accuracy and compliance
- Ensure transaction accuracy with proper coding and cost centers
- Complete year-end closing, IFRS questionnaire, and disclosure reporting
- File local statutory and tax reports; coordinate with auditors and tax advisors
- Prepare cash flow forecasts, monitor cash, ensure intercompany settlements
- Support Accounting Manager and complete ad-hoc projects
- Arrange dividend repayments annually or per board approval
KPIs:
- Timely completion of financial statements
- Correctly coded local accounting transactions
- Accurate tax filings and compliance
- Timely payment of duties and taxes
Requirements
- 5+ years accounting experience in medium to large firms
- Proficiency in Excel and SAP S/4HANA
- Fluent in English (TOEIC 865+) and Japanese (JLPT N1)
- Experience with corporate tax, VAT, and withholding tax filings
- CPA qualification (Bachelor’s or Nissho Bookkeeping Level 2)
- ACCA, CPA, or equivalent preferred
