Job Description

Garrett Popcorn Shops® is seeking a hands-on Controller / HR Manager to oversee accounting, HR, and administrative functions at its Tokyo office. This role will liaise with local accounting firms and payroll service providers, ensuring accurate financial reporting and payroll compliance while supporting employee HR needs.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Treasury Management

• Liaise with local accounting firm for services and tax reporting
• Reconcile monthly/annual statements and manage accounts payable/receivable
• Coordinate with supply chain for invoice approvals
• Manage treasury functions: update cash flow models, process payments, maintain liquidity

Human Resources Management

• Lead recruitment, hiring, and onboarding processes
• Administer and communicate employee benefits
• Maintain payroll records and HR documentation
• Conduct exit interviews and manage exit processes
• Ensure accurate monthly payroll in compliance with laws and company policies
• Coordinate with Japanese teams and service providers for timely reporting

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration
• 5+ years of experience in accounting, HR, or office management (international experience preferred)
• Knowledge of Japanese accounting, tax, and labor laws
• Fluency in Japanese (JLPT N1) and business-level English (TOEIC 735–860)
• Strong communication, organization, and multitasking skills
• Ability to work independently and liaise with external service providers

Working Hours

• Full-time, Monday to Friday

Compensation

• Annual salary: ¥10,000,000 – ¥12,000,000
